The module marina administrators use to bulk-load customers, boats, bookings, contracts, berth pricing, and berth maps into Metarina from file uploads.

1. What is Data Imports?

Data Imports lets you load large amounts of data into Metarina at once by uploading a prepared file. You can import customers, boats, bookings, contracts, berth pricing, and berth maps. Each import type has its own screen, file requirements, and a link to a formatting guide.

2. How to Access It

  1. Log in to Metarina.
  2. Click your marina name at the bottom of the left navigation to open the settings menu.
  3. Select Marina Settings.
  4. In the Marina Settings navigation bar, select Data Imports.
  5. Select the import type tab at the top of the page.

3. Key Screens and Layout

Screen / Area What you use it for Typical daily tasks
Import Customers screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file and create or update multiple customer records at once. Load a spreadsheet of new season berth holders before the season starts.
Import Boats screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file and create or update multiple boat records at once. Add fleet boat data exported from another system.
Import Bookings screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file and create multiple booking records at once. Migrate historical booking data when setting up a new marina.
Import Contracts screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file and create multiple contract records at once. Bulk-load long-stay contract data for owner berths.
Import Berth Map screen You use this screen to upload an SVG file that defines your marina's berth map. Replace or update the visual berth map when berths change.
Import Berth Pricing screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file containing pricing seasons, LOA pricing, and berth pricing data. Set up or update seasonal pricing for all berths at once.
Import Marinas screen You use this screen to upload a CSV file and create multiple marina records at once. This tab is only visible when the bulk marina import feature is enabled for your account. Load multiple marinas at once during a platform migration.
File upload area You use this drag-and-drop area to select or drop your prepared file before importing. Choose a prepared CSV or SVG file from your computer.
Import sub-navigation bar You use this tab bar to switch between import types without leaving the Data Imports area. Move from Import Customers to Import Boats after finishing a customer load.

4. Key Features

Upload a file Opens your computer's file browser so you can select the file to import.
Upload and Import Submits the selected file and starts the import process.
View our CSV import guide A link that opens an external guide showing the required column format for that import type. Available on all import screens except Import Berth Map, which uses an SVG file instead.
Inline error display Shows row-by-row validation errors on the same screen if the import cannot be completed. For Boats, this applies only when no rows were saved at all, if some rows saved despite others failing, you're redirected to the Boats module instead, see Inline error messages below.

5. Statuses and What They Mean

Status / Badge Meaning What you should do next
Success banner The file was processed with no row errors. The banner shows the number of rows processed (for Boats, a fuller breakdown of what was created/updated/skipped). Check the relevant module (Customers, Boats, Bookings, etc.) to confirm the records look correct.
Inline error messages One or more rows in the file failed validation. Those specific rows were skipped, but any other valid rows in the same file were still saved, this is not an all-or-nothing rejection. For Boats specifically, when rows are saved despite others failing, you don't stay on the Import Boats screen, you're redirected to the Boats module (or back to the Import Boats screen if you lack boat-viewing permissions) with a message listing what went wrong, capped at 10 errors. Check the relevant module first to see what was actually saved, then fix only the flagged rows and re-upload rather than re-uploading the whole file, to avoid creating duplicates.
No file was uploaded You clicked Upload and Import without selecting a file first. Select a file using the upload area and try again.
Invalid file format The file you uploaded is not the correct type for that import screen (for example, uploading an XLSX instead of a CSV). Convert your file to the correct format and try again.
File is too large The uploaded file exceeds the maximum size limit: 10MB for Customers, Boats, Bookings, Contracts, and Berth Pricing, 25MB for Marinas. Berth Map has no enforced size limit, despite the screen text mentioning a 10MB guideline. Split the file into smaller batches and import them one at a time.
Import timed out The file took too long to process: a 5-minute limit applies to Customers, Boats, Bookings, Contracts, and Berth Pricing; 10 minutes for Marinas. Berth Map imports have no timeout limit. Split the file into smaller batches and import each batch separately, or contact support.
